Here are a few examples of how you can use the backdrops.

Original Photo and the selected digital backdrop:

Resize the backdrop to be the same size as the photo, then
pleace the original photo on a layer over the backdrop.
Select out and erase out the existing background area, and here is the final image:

Here is another example of portrait. Original and modified photo:

The same technique can be used for product photography also. Here is the original image:

and the selected backdrop image.

The final image looks like this:

For using the lightning images in cityscapes, a somewhat different technique can be adopted.
For example, here are the original photo and the selected digital lightning image:

First paste the lightning image on top of a copy of the photo:

Then, do an Arithmatic operation "Lightest" between this image and the original.

The final image looks like this:
